The 2009 Logan Samoa Advisory Council Incorporated first Annual General Meeting, held last Friday at 47 Ellen Street (LCC) hall, was a resounding success. Attended by 95 members and guests, the meeting celebrated our many achievements of the past financial year and honored five new members for the management team.Despite business being the order of the day, there was a friendly, festive atmosphere in the room, which was decorated in vibrant Polynesian tapa and cloth designs and with a full Island style buffet by Uncle Sam’s catering service.
New elected President Mr Faimalo Faleiva Tau officially opened the meeting and welcomed auditor Ian Krarup from Aspire taxation & Accounting and other special guests.
Treasurer Anne Sikiasini spoke enthusiastically outlining just how Logan Samoa Advisory Council Inc has built a culture around information, problem solving, training and access in a short space of time, adding that this culture would benefit our people in the Logan City. She also expanded on how the organisation has met each of the six completed workshops and projects goals of the Strategic Plan devised a year ago, and continues to look at opportunities to meet the growing demand for education and support needs of our youth and our disadvantage members within the community through and the Logan region. Our work has been assisted greatly through our various partners including the Interlink Housing and Support, Pan Pacific Oceania (PPO), Nutcha Asti (Aunty Betty), MTSI Network (Barry Watson), Access Services Inc, ECCL, Multilink, ECCQ, Logan City Council, Qld Correction Services, BYDC, Crestmead Community Centre.
Then concluded with a glimpse of the organisation’s exciting future and a special heartfelt thanks to the funding bodies and community partners who have contributed both financially and in-kind.
